A is for Antioxidants

Letter a illustrationYou’ve heard of the importance of antioxidants in fruits and vegetables, but did you know that antioxidants play a huge role in anti-aging and repairing the damage to your skin?

What do antioxidants do for my skin?

Antioxidants are nutrients and enzymes that help to prevent and repair damage to your skin. They do this by slowing the effect and helping block free radicals.

What are free radicals?

Free radicals are molecules that are produced by environmental exposures that, more often times than not, your skin is subjected to completely out of your control. Free radicals are cigarette smoke, radiation (including radiation from the sun and other sources such as tanning beds).

What should I look for when choosing an antioxidant product?

Look for the Vitamins C or E in the product name or ingredients.

  • Vitamin E helps the skin look younger by boosting collagen and helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Vitamin C can combat colds & combat aging. It can also help build or rebuild collagen giving your skin a healthy, youthful glow.
